Zenhaven vs loom and leaf2/7/2024 ![]() Though the way this fabric is used differs across the mattresses (quilted with foam in the Saatva, knit with wool in the Zenhaven and combined with flame-retardant thistle in the Loom & Leaf), it imbues each bed with a pleasant cooling sensation and softness.Ĭooling properties – All three of these mattresses feature materials that encourage cooling. Front view of the Loom & LeafĬover – All Saatva mattresses feature a 100% organic cotton cover, which makes for a luxurious feel. So before we get started dissecting these bad boys, let’s take a peek at some of their shared characteristics. While these mattresses feature distinct constructions, they also share some similarities that unite them under the Saatva banner. But we hope to assess it for a future guide to kids’ mattresses.CHECK PRICE Read Zenhaven Mattress Review We haven’t yet tried this mattress, nor have we spotted any online reviews. Those who prefer natural materials might appreciate that the mattress is wrapped in a thick, quilted organic-cotton cover and uses thistle pulp (as opposed to chemical sprays or fiberglass) as the flame retardant. The Saatva Youth is 10 inches thick and bunk-bed-friendly-as long as the bed’s guardrail is at least 5 inches higher than the mattress, for safety reasons. The 13¾-gauge coils range from 330 in a twin to 350 in a twin XL and 462 in a full. On the second side, intended for older kids (the company says ages 8 through 12), the foam density is 1.5 pounds per cubic foot and somewhat softer because it’s paired with the firmer side of the coil unit. The first side is intended for kids ages 3 through 7, and it consists of zoned polyfoam with densities ranging from 1.4 to 1.8 pounds per cubic foot. However, it is dual-sided, with a coil layer sandwiched between two foam layers, so the mattress can grow along with a kid. The Saatva Youth, the company’s relatively new coil-and-foam bed for kids, costs more than some mattresses for grown-ups. So you’ll want to rotate your mattress diligently at least every six months and sleep all over the bed. As with all thick Euro- or pillow-top mattresses, the more you weigh, the more you risk seeing sagging and imprints over time. But as this Reddit thread suggests, some sleepers have had better luck with their Saatva mattresses over the course of many years than others we think this likely depends on the sleeper’s size and shape. Unlike with foam mattresses, this mattress’s steel coils provide additional support, and the quilting could help prevent body impressions. These aren’t as high as the densities in the Loom & Leaf, but the specs are typical for an innerspring mattress, particularly one in this price category. Although company representatives wouldn’t divulge specifics, we were told that the memory foam is at least 3 pounds per cubic foot, and the polyfoam density is 1½ pounds per cubic foot. ![]() The foam densities in the Saatva Classic are less than those in the Loom & Leaf, the company’s foam-mattress offering. And since there is the option of an 11½-inch thickness (instead 14½ inches), the bed is easier to crawl into, especially when paired with a low frame. ![]() It may also be a good choice for those with mobility issues: Better resilience means the sleeper will have an easier time rolling from one position to another. Because of the somewhat assertive springiness, the Plush Soft would probably work best for people who have the whole bed to themselves. It’s a good choice for those who insist on excellent edge support while also seeking a more-traditional-feeling innerspring and a looser pillowy cradle. “Perfect for those who like to sleep on trampolines,” one tester said, half-joking. The Saatva Classic Plush Soft also felt somehow bouncier than the Luxury Firm did-which was off-putting for many. In January 2022, we included the Plush Soft version in a small group test of soft mattresses, but it didn’t garner as many fans in its price category as the Luxury Firm had in our previous test.
